Five Tips to Remember When Traveling to the Beach

Bringing The Right Sunbathing Equipment

When your planning for a day at the beach, it is important to pack something that you can lie on comfortably. If you are going to a rockier beach, lawn chairs may prove to be the correct equipment. However, if you know that the beach you are going to has soft sand, a beautiful beach towel or blanket can do the trick. Lawn chairs often come with drink holders, so they are convenient if you plan on enjoying a few beverages while basking in the sun. Towels can also be irritating, so make sure to pack a few extra because sand, water, and other unwanted substances can make them dirty.

Sun Protection

Make sure you bring protection from the ultraviolet rays from the sun. If you plan to spend many hours at the beach, especially at the peak of the day, pack protection. Sunscreen is the go-to form of sun protection, but make sure you are applying it an hour before going into the water, or it can wash off. Purchasing a sunscreen that is SPF 15 is recommended, but if you are going to spending hours at the beach, try SPF 30 or higher. Remember to reapply the sunscreen throughout the day, as it is going to wear off, especially if you are spending time in the water. Consider packing an umbrella, which can also help prevent sunburn and overexposure to UV rays. Spending time in the shade can also give your body some relief from the harsh heat of the sun. If you bring a cute umbrella with you to the beach, you can make your day more enjoyable.

Staying Hydrated

The most important tip you can remember is to pack a lot of water. Make sure to drink plenty of water during the day. If you are spending a lot of time at the beach exerting physical energy, you need to continue to drink water. Many times beach dwellers become over exhausted and dehydrated when swimming in the ocean for long periods. Remember, just because you are in the water does not mean your body is not drying up inside. Packing water bottles or a cooler filled with ice and drinks is going to aid you when at the beach and under the sun.

Packing Food and Beverages

Some times famous beaches are going to have food and water vendors. Even the beaches that do have food and drink vendors often only sell sugary and unhealthy fast food. However, it is important to note that some more secluded beaches are not going to be near food and water stores, so prepare to bring snacks and drinks. Bringing more food than what is needed is not a bad thing when spending a day at the beach, so pack as much food and water that can fit into your coolers. You never know how much water you are going to need to consume when in the heat of the sun all day.

Having Access To Electronics

Make sure that all your electronic devices are charged before going to the beach. To protect them from water and sand damage, bring zip lock bags or separate luggage that is going to keep them away from harm. Having a functioning phone on you is crucial in case an emergency happens at the beach. If an emergency does occur, having a charged phone is going to help, especially if you are at a quiet beach away from lifeguards and first aid services.
