The skyline of New York City is undeniably a legendary sight. People travel from all over the world to see it and go all over the city to get the best possible vantage point. From The Top of the Rock to the Empire State Building, there are plenty of places to take it all in from a birds-eye point of view. However, the city is not done expanding, and a new observation deck is in the works- this time, a record-breaking one.
Hudson Yards is the name of a neighborhood being developed in upscale Manhattan. To top it all off, the 30 Hudson Yards tower is breaking records left and right. The new tower is built over 28 acres, and the cost comes to around $28 billion. That makes it the biggest private real estate project in the U.S.- ever!
The 30 Hudson Yards Tower is also home to the new highest observation deck in New York City, named Edge. Edge not only features a stunning modern design, but also a glass floor, an event space, and a restaurant. Edge beats out all the other observation decks in the city in terms of height, and it also extends as far as 65 feet out from the building’s 100th floor. Edge reaches a height of 1,100 feet, making it the highest observation deck in all of the Western hemisphere.
Edge expects to welcome hundreds of visitors a day, most likely beating out the foot traffic at the other observation decks for the first while. After all, who wouldn’t want to visit the Western Hemisphere’s highest observation deck? With just a minute-long elevator ride, visitors get to experience views of the city like they never have before. It surely lives up to its name, allowing visitors to literally peer over the edge.
